You will have seen from earlier posts that we received planning permission approval back in November to extend the workshop and upgrade the wind turbine in the quarry. We are just starting to make progress on this now. We hope to have the old part of the straw bale workshop refurbished by Easter so we can move the frames for the new workshop into place and concentrate on building this section over the summer. The final details for the new wind turbine are being put together with the help of Eco EnerG Solutions in Teesdale, which will enable us to be carbon neutral for our energy requirements into the foreseeable future. The last bit of the equation is to upgrade the Eco-classroom. We hope to refurbish the compost toilets in the next couple of months and then to upgrade the rest of the classroom as time, money and energy allow!.
All this means we are going to run a limited programme of events for the first half of this year and restrict group bookings so we can make some progress. We hope to be in a position to be up and running again by June or July. Our events pages will be updated shortly and we’ll keep you informed of progress. It is all very exciting but quite daunting at the same time!
