Harehope Quarry Project

Living roof

It has taken three years but theIMG_0796 roofs of both the house and the boat shed at Harehope Quarry are finally flowering well. The living roofs have struggled with the dry springs we have had for the past few years but the sedum has spread and now dominates, as it can tolerate the dry conditions. ¬†However, the limestone plants we added as seed or transplanted from under the buildings are also starting to come through. ¬†These plants include thyme, red clover, viper’s bugloss, eyebright, storksbill, black meddick and marjoram.
