I thought some of you might be interested in the North Pennines Smallholders (NPS). Hare hope Quarry is a member and their events helps us to share information and expertise. New members are always welcome.
The North Pennines Smallholders (NPS) came about following a series of events organised by the North Pennines AONB at the end of 2013. The original meetings were hosted at 3 locations across the North Pennines – Garrigill in Cumbria, Eggleston in County Durham and Allendale in Northumberland.
The idea for NPS originated as part of the North Pennines AONB Nectarworks project, which aims to enthuse, educate and help communities to conserve flower-rich areas for the benefit of bumblebees and other pollinators.
The aim is to establish a network across the region that will provide benefits for members, their land and also the wildlife within it. Eventually it is hoped that the NPS will bring smallholders, landowners and like-minded people together to learn more about their land and how they can work together to look after it.
New members are always very welcome and membership forms are available to download.
