An upgraded wind turbine was fitted yesterday, so along with the PV array Harehope Quarry can now produce all of its electricity requirements.
For the first time Harehope Quarry is now completely grid connected with the ability to generate all the electricity it requires from a 12kW PV array and a 6kW wind turbine. In addition, surplus electricity will be fed in to the national grid. It is exciting to think that all the electricity requirements of courses, events, schools visits and businesses that run from site now have their electricity needs met by renewable energy.
The images below show the turbine being raised in the gloom of yesterday evening and it finally erected in the centre of the quarry.
