A new pond dipping platform was built on one of the wildlife ponds this weekend by co-operative members of the Harehope Quarry Project. The platform will be used for community events and activities as well as by visiting school groups. We hope to encourage local schools in Weardale to use it regularly to monitor the invertebrate life of the pond and compare it with that of the Bollihope Burn. The materials for the platform were funded by the Weardale Field Studies Society and the Lakes and Dales Co-operative. Thanks to all those who helped to build at the weekend.
